Meet Roberto:

Roberto is a partner at AVL Abogados, where he co-directs the Tax Area of the firm.

He has more than 20 years of experience as a legal, tax and corporate advisor for large and medium-sized companies, both Ecuadorian and foreign, operating in various economic sectors, such as: construction and real estate, mining and oil, manufacturing, agricultural production and food, retail, tourism, transportation, telecommunications.

Experience

  • Having worked as a senior consultant at Moore Stephens Profile and as a partner in several tax consulting firms since 2008, he has built a strong track record that includes successes in defending administrative tax assessment and recovery processes, as well as in tax litigation against national and local governments.

  • Additionally, he has achieved relevant pronouncements, through binding consultations absolved by the Internal Revenue Service [Servicio de Rentas Internas] (SRI), providing the necessary legal certainty for his clients to carry out important investments and large transactions.

  • Roberto has acquired outstanding experience in tax advice applied to commercial trusts and investment funds, thanks to his collaboration as in-house legal advisor in one of the main fund and trust management companies in the country and 20 years of advising the largest fiduciaries in the country.

  • He has collaborated in various tax reforms, advising national and local associations, as well as public sector entities.
