Executive Decree No. 94, dated August 14, 2025, ordered the merger by absorption of the Ministry of the Environment, Water and Ecological Transition (MAATE) to the Ministry of Energy and Mines. Once the merger process is completed, the name of the Ministry of Energy and Mines will change to the Ministry of Environment and Energy.
The MAATE will be integrated into the new Ministry of Environment and Energy as a vice-ministry, with all the powers, attributions, functions, representations and delegations constant in the current regulations that corresponded to the MAATE.
