Meet Rodrigo:

Lawyer specializing in mining and petroleum. Rodrigo provides advice on project financing, corporate matters, fiduciary matters and business advice in general, as a support for the development of clients’ activities and business lines.

His experience for more than 15 years as Legal Director of transnational energy and natural resources companies, has allowed him to know, from the inside, the needs and requirements of his clients.

This has allowed him to advise our clients, in the best way, in the development of their projects, both from the initial stages of obtaining permits and negotiating contracts, as well as in the operational phases of production.

Mining Experience

• Advising as Manager and Legal Director in international companies in the mining sector, for 15 years.
  
  
• Rodrigo has participated in three of the four negotiations of mining contracts that have taken place in Ecuador, for a total amount of more than US $ 4500 million.
  
  
• He has also participated in the negotiations of investment contracts for the main mining projects in Ecuador for a total amount of more than US $ 4500 million.
  
  

Hydrocarbon Experience

• Advising as Manager and Legal Director in international companies in the oil sector, for 15 years.
  
  
• Supported the litigation team of AVL Abogados, as support in the petroleum area, in a contractual arbitration whose amount exceeded US $ 120 million, with a very favorable result for the client.
  
  

Financing Experience

• Advising on negotiations, project financing, corporate finance, trust business and in general, corporate legal advice.
  
  
• He advised several mining companies in the implementation of the financing of their projects (US $ 1100 million already invested), through complex structures with banks, investment funds, ore buyers, equipment and machinery suppliers, among others.
  
  

State and Public Law Experience

• Advising companies in all phases of their business, from the initial stage of establishment, through the negotiation and signing of contracts with the State, to advice to all internal areas permits, environment, labor, tax, communities, negotiation with suppliers, regulatory and reporting to authorities, among others.
  
  
• Advising on the negotiation and signing of investment contracts with the State, for the protection of investors and their investments, in their projects developed in the country.
  
  

Formation

• Lawyer and Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador (PUCE), Ecuador.
  
  
• Master’s degree in business administration from Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico.
