Meet José Luis:

José Luis leads the areas focused on labor and social security law, migration, and naturalization. He specializes in corporate, civil and commercial law. He has also developed his practice in the oil services industry and administrative law.

His practice has focused on advising national and foreign companies in the following industries: aeronautics, mining, petroleum, food and beverages, civil works, consulting, telecommunications, software development, education, transportation, pharmaceutical, real estate, tourism, security, automotive, etc.

Corporate Experience

  • He has extensive experience in the incorporation of Ecuadorian companies and the establishment of branches for foreign companies.
  • Permanent advice on the day-to-day operation of companies. Statutory reforms, mergers, spin-offs, etc.
  • Experience in the dissolution and liquidation of national companies and branches of foreign companies, and in the representation of shareholders at shareholders’ meetings and on boards of directors.
  • Due Diligence and legal risk assessment; Corporate governance, family regulation (family protocols), legal representation, drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts and purchase or sale of businesses, are other areas of his expertise.

Work Experience

  • José Luis specializes in the implementation of internal labor policies, effective labor litigation management, negotiation of individual contracts, management of collective disputes, and strategic advice to ensure stability and legal compliance in the labor field.
  • Advising on labor and constitutional administrative and judicial procedures. Assistance in processes before the Ministry of Labor and Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security [Instituto Ecuatoriano de Seguridad Social] IESS, labor mediation and labor audit.

Immigration Experience

  • Advising on the management of visas, renewals, cancellations and naturalizations. Management of temporary work residence visas or permanent visas and review of special cases.
