Meet Daniela:

Daniela is part of AVL Abogados’ arbitration and complex litigation team.  Her practice focuses on commercial litigation and public law matters.

She worked at the International Affairs and Arbitration Directorate of the Attorney General’s Office [Procuraduría General del Estado] (PGE), where she supervised, coordinated, and co-sponsored national and international arbitrations proceedings involving public sector entities, thus participating in several commercial and investment arbitrations.

She works as an arbitration secretary at the Arbitration Center of the Quito Chamber of Commerce (CCQ), at the Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution Methods of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador (PUCE) and at the Arbitration and Mediation Center of FEDEXPOR.

She has been included in the list of arbitrators of the International Arbitration Center of the Chamber of Belgium and Luxembourg in Peru. She is the founder of ECUVYAP (Ecuadorian Very Young Arbitration Practitioners).

Daniela has been a guest panelist for several international organizations, including the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC-YAF), CLA-40, International Center for Arbitration and Mediation CIAM.

She has represented clients in major disputes, both in court and in national and international arbitration.

Experience

  • Supervision, coordination, and co-counsel of national and international arbitration proceedings involving public sector entities, participating in several investment and commercial arbitrations under UNCITRAL and ICC rules.

  • Advising a mining company in processes for jurisdictional guarantees and precautionary measures against a municipality for declaring the public utility of land owned by the company for the construction of a road without technical studies and the corresponding environmental permits.

  • Advising and legal representation in administrative sanction proceedings before different public authorities.

  • Advising and legal representation before the Agency for the Regulation and Control of Energy and Non-Renewable Natural Resources [Agencia de Regulación y Control de Energía y Recursos Naturales no Renovables] (ARCERNNR) to prevent the granting of transit rights and easements to irregular mining groups.
